History of Fu Style Internal Martial Arts
The Fu Style Internal Martial Arts System, Wudang Chuan, was created by Master Fu’s grandfather, Fu Zhen Song, one of the Five Northern Tigers. Fu Style is characterized by strong yet supple movements of the hips and waist. The forms require twisting and leaning to increase movement in the hips, waist and shoulders.
Fu style is unique among the internal martial arts as it places emphasis on full-body movement. Whether students focus on health or self-defense, the study of Fu Style Internal Martial Arts System (Tai Chi Chuan, Liang Yi Chuan, Ssu Xiang Chuan, Hsing Yi Chuan, Pa Kua Zhang, plus other fist and weapon sets) offers many physical benefits not easily found in other systems.
Master Victor Sheng Lung Fu began training with his father, Fu Wing Fay, when he was 5 years old. As a child, Master Fu competed in multiple tournaments. At the age of 13, Master Fu won gold in the Guangdong Provincial Youth Tournament. In 1984, he became a member and director of the Guangzhou Municipal Wudang Boxing Research Society and in 1985 a Committee Member of the Guangzhou Municipal Wushu Association. In 1988, he was confirmed as a Wushu judge by the Guangzhou Municipal Sports Committee.
In 1989 Master Fu moved to Vancouver, Canada and opened his school to teach the health and wellness principles within Fu Style. He continues to teach in Vancouer as well as multiple long-term senior care facilities around Vancouver.
